This local organization works with the City and County Commissioners and Bureaus/Departments, as well as the private and non-profit sectors and community members to meet the community needs of all ages. Take a look at their projects, age-related publications, and community events/conferences, or consider volunteering with their partners.

Run by the Institute on Aging at Portland State University (PSU), SALC facilitates and encourages lifelong learning for Oregon residents aged 65+ years. You can register through them as auditors for undergraduate and graduate classes at little to no cost. See their website for current offerings, requirements, and registration support.

Those who submit an annual membership application can attend twice monthly presentations led by Portland State University (PSU) faculty, community members, musicians, etc. Yearly fees are $20 per individual or $35 per couple. There are a variety of topics, social time beforehand, and monthly newsletters. Contact them for a one-time guest pass to try it out before paying.

 

Presentations are held on the PSU campus from 1:00-2:00pm on the 1st and 2nd Thursdays in October, November, and February through May. January programs are held on the 2nd and 3rd Thursdays. Most presentations are in Room 212, Urban Center Building, 506 SW Mill Street, while the two music programs are in Room 326, Lincoln Hall, 1620 SW Park Ave.
